The Basics of a Great Skincare Routine

Take care of your skin and it will take care of you. 🧡

1. Cleanse your skin daily. Pollutants, dirt, and oil gather on the surface of your skin and some get absorbed into the skin causing inflammation, bacteria build up, and acne flare ups. Clean skin is healthy skin.

Deep cleansing regularly is also important, products like face mask or face washes that penetrate to the deeper layers of the skin are important for drawing dirt, oil, and toxins out of the pores and making it possible to wash it all away.

2. Exfoliate! Your skin naturally turns over dead skin cells every 30 days or so. But this process can be slow moving and leave you with build up, dull skin, and trapped dirt, bacteria, and oil. Exfoliating helps rid you of these and leaves your skin soft and radiant. But don't overdo it. Exfoliating too frequently can exacerbate skin problems.

3. Moisturize adequately. Moisturizing helps skin maintain a healthy balance of oil. Many skincare regimens promote drying out skin to fight acne but in some cases this may worsen acne. Moisturizing plays a big role in the health of your skin.

4. Drink plenty of water. Water flushes toxins from the body, keeps skin cells hydrated, and can help keep the complexion clear and radiant. By flushing toxins from the body it keeps them from having to be expelled through the skin and can reduce inflammation and acne flare ups.

Taking good care of your skin is important. Of course some skin issues require more treatment and care than listed above, but it is definitely a good place to start. Time is also very important when healing your skin. It can take up to 90 days to see real results when using a new regimen or product so keep that in mind if you begin to get frustrated with the results.

Everyone's skin is different. Some skin thrives with minimal interjection and very basic products but some skin requires a little more care and more specialized products/ingredients.

Most importantly love your skin and treat it well, and it will behave in kind. 🧡
